On this special occasion, the country unites to celebrate the heart of our society, our children.
This year, under the theme “For every child, every right,” we reaffirm that every child in Seychelles, without exception, deserves to grow up in an environment filled with love, safety, dignity, and opportunity. Every child must have access to their fundamental rights, which are the foundation of their wellbeing and future.
Our children are not only the bearers of our history and culture but also the hope and promise of our future.
To ensure that they develop and truly flourish, it requires the dedication of all adults from parents and caregivers to teachers, community leaders, policymakers, and every citizen to uphold their rights through meaningful action.
In Seychelles, Children’s Day is a powerful reminder of the progress we are making together. Partners across government, civil society, and communities are working better than ever before to promote the wellbeing of our children. We are reviewing and strengthening our policies, guidelines, and laws to ensure they are fit for purpose and fully protective of children’s rights.
New mechanisms are being introduced to safeguard children from harm, and training programs for professionals and care givers are becoming more widely available to ensure quality care and support for our youngest citizens.
As a government and as a nation, we commit unwaveringly to building a society where every child is safe, empowered, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. We acknowledge the challenges ahead but also draw strength from our collective effort, where we are all working hand in hand with the best interest of the child at heart.
To all the children of Seychelles: you are cherished, you are powerful, and you are deeply loved. Your rights are our promise, and your wellbeing is our shared responsibility.
Let us continue moving forward together, united for every child, every right.
Happy Children’s Day!
