As it is customary during this time of year, Minister Patricia Francourt and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan visited orphanages across the country in the spirit of sharing joy and the blessing of Christmas with children and words of gratitude and encouragement to workers of these institutions.
They were accompanied by the Principal Secretary of Social Affairs Department Linda William-Melanie, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Council for Children Yasmin Umarji, the Director of Social Services Beryl Laboudallon and Mrs Erica Rangasamy.
Children at Foyer de Nazareth, Foyer de la Providence, Foyer de la Solitude and President’s Village welcomed the delegation to their very nicely decorated homes with Christmas carols and hand-made Christmas cards in thankful recognition. First Lady Ramkalawan and Minister Francourt presented hampers of goodies to each institution.
The delegation was accompanied by a group of six young girls from different schools, passionate about singing who added to the festive ambiance.
