Strengthening child protection mechanism

The Social Affairs Department coordinated a full day workshop today, Thursday 27th February, for child protection stakeholders with the assistance of two international consultants, for the development of robust sectoral child protection standard operating procedures to guide practice and ensure that child safety is at the core of any investigation process.

The workshop consisted of two components.
Participants engaged in a tabletop exercise to address a hypothetic scenario of a reported case of abuse and got frontline officers to work through the standard operating procedure.
They also delved into the decision-making process in child protection matters for investigation and safeguarding measures.

The session was facilitated by Sir George Hamilton and Mr. Philip Knox, as part of technical assistance provided to Seychelles by the British High Commission.
It is the second such workshop for child protection stakeholders aimed at ensuring uniform guiding principles which fully protect children.
