A group of 7 staff from the Night Shelter Unit, within the Social Affairs Department, has benefited from training conducted by Nursing Officer Ms Anabelle Cadeau, from the Unit for Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases. The training comprised of both theory and practical sessions. Ms Cadeau shed light on communicable diseases, risk factors and prevention practices. She elaborated on the importance of basic screening and what to look out for.
The following evening, Programme Manager, Ms Bharathi Viswanathan joined Ms Cadeau at the Night Shelter, along with the newly trained Night Shelter team to conduct screening on 12 service users who were also provided counselling by the health professionals.
Follow-up practical training will be scheduled to boost the confidence of the team in the event of emergencies.
